YOU ARE INVITED TO A LECTURE:

"Karel Teige and the European Avant-Garde: Architecture or Revolution"
Czech Center New York, 1109 Madison Aveue (at 83rd Street)
Thursday, June 21, 6:30 pm

JEAN-LOUIS COHEN, Sheldon H. Solow Professor in the History of
Architecture, Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, will discuss
Teige's incisive contribution to the critical discourse of modern
architecture, which resulted from his personal, activist involvement in
every domain of cultural life and also from the conjunction between his
intensive critical activity and the exception situation in his country.
At the juncture between architecture and politics, his writings reflect
and interact with the intense conflicts at work in the different circles
of the European avant-garde, from Paris to Moscow and Brussels to
Prague.

Organized by the Czech Center New York with assistance from the Grey Art
Gallery, NYU. Admission is free; seating is limited. RSVP by June 20 to
212/288-0830, ext. 109.
