Two paintings of that title were in the Royal Academy exhibition in 1996.
The catalogue was titled "Frederic, Lord Leighton, emiment Victorian
artist". Cat. no. 110 has Clytie in a landscape. The painting is in the
Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. Cat. no. 125 has the figure of Clytie "in
adoration before the setting sun". It is now in a private collection, and
the photograph was courtesy of Sotheby's. As it was in the exhibition, it
should be possible to find the owner. The person who wrote the entry seems
to have been Christopher Newall. Possibly the RA could tell you, if you
outline why the information is so important, as the owner is one of the
"owners who wish to remain anonymous".

I hope this is of some use to you.

Subject: Looking for owner of "Clytie" by Frederick Leighton

I've had a request to locate the owner or institution who may own
the painting titled "Clytie" by Federick Leighton (1830-1896).
Does anyone know how I can locate this work?

Thank you! :-)
