Dear Colleagues, On behalf of the Public Policy Committee, I would like to draw attention to the following seminar. On Friday, JUNE 8, 2001, PALINET will sponsor a Digital Licensing Seminar at the College of Physicians in Philadelphia. The seminar will be conducted by Lesley Ellen Harris, a Copyright, New Media Law and E-commerce Lawyer/Consultant who works on legal, business and strategic issues in the publishing, entertainment, Internet and information industries. In this half day seminar, participants will be led through a clause-by-clause analysis of a typical licensing agreement. Anyone involved in the use or licensing of digital materials, including publishers, photographers, writers, Web site and CD-ROM developers, those in museums, archives, libraries, educational institutions and governments are encouraged to attend. The workshop will examine: licensing arrangements generally; what uses of works can be made through a licensing agreement; sublicenses and secondary rights; moral rights; compensation; duration of a licensing agreement; who owns what; revocation of rights in certain circumstances; credits, warranties, and indemnities.
