Hello Norine: As you probably already know, it's tough to find reviews of art videos. I regularly peruse the video reviews in Booklist, Video Librarian, Library Journal, but they focus their selections on the public library market, not the college/design school audience, so you find only an occasional worthwhile review of art-oriented videos. Crystal Productions www.crystalproductions.com is one catalog I've used for art apprec videos. They carry several videos on painting/drawing, often targeted to K-12 or amateur adult, but they're worth a look. I've seen these same videos in other catalogs, e.g., Universal Color Slides. What's more important is that Crystal allow a 30 day review period, so if you're organized you can preview the tapes yourself and send back those with unacceptable treatment styles. It takes oodles of time, but sometimes it's the only way. I've been doing this with videos from Media from the Arts. This was definitely the way to go, as the synopsis given in the catalog/web site doesn't match the content of the video, and, at $150 each, you don't want to make a mistake! BTW, if someone does know of any additional sources of consistent reviews of art videos, do share the info with the list. I'm always hunting for this stuff and coming up empty handed.
