This session will explore why few students are interested in
cataloging as a career and discuss a recent successful cataloging
internship at the Pierpont Morgan Library. Suggestions for developing
internship projects and mentoring prospective catalogers will be
offered. The approach will be conversational as the moderator, Alison
Dickey, will be unable to attend.

Prospective attendees are encouraged to bring questions and opinions,
possible intern projects for review and discussion, reminiscences on
their own experiences as mentors/mentees and thoughts on mentoring a
new generation of art catalogers. We would also like to invite recent
graduates to discuss their experience as students, and as interns, to
illustrate good and bad practice, and to detail what encouraged or
discouraged them from a career in cataloging.

This Ask Arlis session will held Tuesday, April 3, 3:30-5:00.
