Some many special interest groups, so little space! Here is a suggestion based on how the Medical Library Association solved its problem for small special interest meeting space. During the annual meeting, a large room was reserved for Brown Bag (Box Lunch) Round Tables. Each group (limited to 10-12 because of table size) was assigned a table with a facilitator and recorder. If need be, there were two tables on the same topic. There were about ten groups in all. At first people were worried about the noise level (all those people talking!), but it was not a factor. If lunch is not an option for ARLIS, a late afternoon (4-6 pm) might be an alternative. I remember being at an Internet Table about ten years ago and it was very informative. For general information, MLA has approximately 5,000 members and about 1,500 attend its annual meeting. I was a member for 18 years. I have been a happy ARLIS member for four years. Looking forward to a hip LA conference!
