Professor John Wilson ([log in to unmask]) is trying to locate the present
owner of the following work, in order to secure permission to reproduce the
image:
Artist: Ogata Korin, 1658-1716.
Title: Su Tung-p'o [or Su Tung-p'o on a donkey]
[signed on the image as Hokkyo Korin]
Reproduced in: Korin / Doanda Randall. New York : Crown Publishers [1960], no
owner noted.
We have looked in other works by Korin as well as works on Japanese art and
have
found nothing; we've searched the web under both Korin and the title of the
work.
The Professor wrote to Crown but has not yet received an answer. We've
asked the
folks in our East Asian Library for assistance--again nothing found. We
thought that
we found the work in the Mary and Jackson Burke collection, but it is a
different work.
Prof. Wilson would be most grateful if any of you can find either the
current owner or
a more recent reproduction and credit. Please reply to him directly if you
locate this image.
