The following message, posted earlier to the RLG-SCIPIO listserv, may also be of interest to ARLIS/NA colleagues: A draft version of the SCIPIO Cataloging Guide, 2001 Edition, is now available for review and comment at: http://www.rlg.org/aag/scipiocatguide.html The new guide, written by the RLG-SCIPIO Advisory Taskforce, is intended to bring SCIPIO cataloging practices into much greater conformance with mainstream MARC21/AACR2 standards. The changes introduced in this edition are discussed in more detail in the February, 2001, issue of RLG Focus: http://www.rlg.org/r-focus/i48scipio.html The Taskforce has established a target date of June 1, 2001, for adoption and implementation of the new guide by the SCIPIO cataloging community, following a review and comment period that commences with this announcement. The new practices and their implications will also be discussed in detail at the annual SCIPIO Users Group Meeting, to be held as part of the ARLIS/NA conference in Los Angeles on 3 April 2001.
