This arrangement and description guide was developed in response to the
need to identify standard series and sub-series for the management of
collections of architectural records. It is based on consistent record
types found in more than seventy-five collections of papers and records
created by architects and landscape architects. It also provides a
framework that can be used to organize and describe papers and records
created and collected by many types of professional practitioners. These
series and subseries are applicable to both traditional paper and encoded
finding aids.
