One I can suggest is Counterspace, which offers limited information. http://www.studiomotiv.com/counterspace Here are the other sites I listed, though they're really more for fonts, news, or companion sites for magazines. Baseline http://www.baselinemagazine.com/ Digital Type Review http://www.typereview.com/ The Fontsite http://www.fontsite.com/home.html Microsoft Typography http://www.microsoft.com/truetype/default.asp Sans Serif http://www.quixote.com/serif/sans/ U&lc Online http://www.itcfonts.com/itc/ulc/index.html Yahoo/Typefaces http://dir.yahoo.com/Arts/Design_Arts/Graphic_Design/Typography/Typefaces/ Good luck. Sara, I suppose you know about the Adobe type library. The histories are are short and concise. I ran across it doing research on Eric Gill and I think it's a pretty wonderful site, but typography is not my field, so I'm probably no judge. Here's the URL for Adobe's Bodoni in case you need it: http://www.adobe.com/type/browser/P/P_026.html Linda Bien, Adjunct Slide Librarian in Charge of Research Collections Concordia University Faculty of Fine Arts, Montreal, Canada [log in to unmask] 514 848-4690 From: Laurie Whitehill <[log in to unmask]> Date: Tuesday, February 20, 2001 3:41 PM Subject: Re: ARLIS-L Digest - 9 Feb 2001 to 16 Feb 2001 (#2001-30) Date: Fri, 16 Feb 2001 12:55:06 EST Sara, In addition to Dan Nolting's helpful web suggestions, here are a couple more that give some good information on Bodoni. http://www.parmaitaly.com/bodonik.html http://www.desktoppub.about.com/compute/desktoppub/cs/bodoni The second site gives a good description of Bodoni's "Manuale Tipografico". You might find some other useful links through the book arts web page at http://www.philobiblon.com. I find that it is often difficult to find much information on certain type designers, where other, more well known designers, have plenty of information available. This is true of both print and electronic resources. For some of those books that are always "checked out" and always in demand, I try to keep an extra copy in reference.
