The College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of
Washington has an opening for a Director of Visual Resources. The
Director will act as the sole curator of the CAUP Slide Library which
contains 110,000 images of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban
Planning, Construction, and Fine Art. The collection is in the form of
35 mm glass slides sorted in wall mounted slide cases. The library also
maintains and checks out audiovisual equipment for use in classrooms.
The director is expected to maintain, develop, research and classify
the
collection, advise users, formulate policy and prepare reports as
required by the College, the University and the State. The director
reports to the College Administrator. A 50% FTE graduate student and
hourly personnel as needed assist the director.
The CAUP collection is currently housed in Gould Hall on the University
of Washington campus. The visual resources department has a close
relationship with the CAUP Branch Library, which is currently located
next door.
The Director is a Professional Staff position, at a salary level Grade
8
($3,074-$5,878/mo), professional level 2. The University provides a
full
range of health, dental, disability, and life insurance.
Preliminary review of applications will begin on March 26 by a
committee
of college faculty and staff. Interviews will be scheduled and
references contacted during spring quarter.
