In conjunction with the current exhibition of Sarah Chamberlain's book arts and printed works at the Collins Galley, Sandra Kroupa will give a talk on the current state of fine press books and artists books. Sandra Kroupa is the Book Arts Librarian in Manuscripts, Special Collections, University Archives Division at the University of Washington Libraries. She has worked in Special Collection for 32 years, most of that time involved with the book arts. Sandra writes, lectures, teaches classes, curates exhibitions, and gives workshops on topics related to the book arts, both historical and modern. A founding member of the Book Arts Guild, Sandra has apprenticed to a bookbinder, owns two letterpresses, and takes as many workshops as possible to better assist students in understanding book history and creating their own books. Sandra's talk, open to the public, is on Wednesday, February 7, 2001, at 7 pm at the US Bank Room, ground floor of the Multnomah County Library's Central Library, 801 SW 10th, Portland, OR, 97205. The Sarah Chamberlain exhibition, featuring a recent acquisition to the John Wilson Room of almost all of her entire printed output, along with related archival materials such as book dummies, printing samples, and woodblocks, is in the Collins Gallery, 3rd floor, of Central Library, and will be on view until February 28, 2001. Please direct any questions about the exhibition to me. ---------- ------------------------ Jim Carmin Multnomah County Library John Wilson Room Librarian 801 SW Tenth Avenue Central Library Portland, OR 97205-2597 [log in to unmask] 503-988-6287 http://www.multnomah.lib.or.us/lib/about/mcl-wilson.html __________________________________________________________________ Mail submissions to [log in to unmask] Administrative matters (file requests, subscription requests, etc) to [log in to unmask] ARLIS-L Archives and subscription maintenance: http://lsv.uky.edu/archives/arlis-l.html Questions may be addressed to list owner (Kerri Scannell) at: [log in to unmask]
