Position:
Database Coordinator in the Information Systems Office serving The Frick
Collection and Frick Art Reference Library

Duties:
Responsible for development, management and oversight of various database
projects for museum and library information management.

Responsible for data and metadata mapping and transport across different
systems.

Serves as database manager for Cuadra STAR system. Provides technical and
communications expertise to support various information resources, such as
collections management systems for both the Photoarchive and The Frick
Collection.

Responsible for data mapping and export to various projects such as AMICO
(Art Museum Image Consortium).

Responsible for training staff in these systems. Responsible for researching
and developing "best practices" for data mapping and visual resource
systems.

The Database Coordinator will work with the Manager of Web and Database
Publishing to connect databases to The Frick Collection Web site and
intranets.

Responsible for documentation related to various projects, including
maintaining help information for staff on the intranet.

Responsible for troubleshooting and answering questions about software
applications that cannot be answered by the Help Desk staff.

Qualifications:
Experience with developing and maintaining databases (the Frick Art
Reference Library uses the Unix-based Cuadra STAR for a variety of
applications.) Requires in-depth knowledge of databases. Experience with
Microsoft Access and Filemaker Pro preferred. Must be familiar with library
online catalogs (the Frick Art Reference Library uses the Innovative
Interfaces, Inc. for its OPAC) and MARC cataloging basics. Applicant should
be aware of standards and emerging technical developments in the Visual
Resources community. To qualify, you must have the ability to problem-solve
and have excellent project management, analytical, verbal, and writing
skills. Editorial and/or scanning and digital imaging experience preferred.
You must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent (a Master's degree in Art
History or Library Science is preferred) and two years' experience with
database applications.

The workday is M-F, from 9-5.
