The Mark O. Hatfield Library is seeking an innovative, pro-active
librarian for a newly created Humanities and Fine Arts Librarian
position.  Librarian will develop and deliver traditional and innovative
library services to the students and faculty of the following
departments/areas: foreign languages, English, philosophy, religion,
classics, music, theatre, art/art history, world views, art museum,
writing center, and humanities center.  Services include information
literacy, instructional design, course-related instruction, collection
development, and reference.  In collaboration with faculty in the
humanities and fine arts, designs and implements information literacy
initiatives and works to integrate them into the curriculum.  Position
reports to the AUL for Public Services and Collection Development.

Required qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS; undergraduate degree and/or
significant library experience in the humanities/fine arts (graduate
degree preferred); fluency with information technology; commitment to and
experience with instructional design and pedagogy; strong public services
orientation; reading knowledge of a foreign language, preferably Western
European; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to
work successfully in a highly collaborative environment and to interact
positively with others; ability to work flexibly and creatively in a
rapidly changing environment; commitment to library service and the
