Hello
The picture you must refer to is painted by the Norwegian painter Knud Larsen
Bergslien (1827-1908) in 1869, with the title (my translation):
The "Birchlegs[stockings?] skiing over Filefjell [File mountain]
bringing Hekon Hekonsson as child to Trondheim".
Hekon 4. Hekonsson (1204-63) was Norwegian king from 1217-63.
It was more a question of bringing the infant in safety than actual
kidnapping, there were at least two parties in Norway then, each
supporting their king-to-be.
I do not know where the painting is today, I will make investigations!
There is one b/w illustration in:
Dagestad, Magnus: Dei tre Bergsli-kunstnarane. - Voss: Forlag Magnus
Dagestad, 1945, s. 19.
I could send a photocopy (although the quality would be rather poor).
Best regards
