revision and updating of files on the AWS. The Editor will review and
revise as necessary submissions from Committees, Divisions, Sections, &
Round Tables (DSRTs), the Executive Board, and other bodies of the Society.

The Editor will serve as a member of the ARLIS/NA Web Site Administrative
Board (AWSAB) which will continue to oversee the editorial, design, and
intellectual content of the AWS in consultation with the Executive Board.

Duties:

1. Act as the intermediary between submitting bodies (Committees, DSRTs,
etc.) and the AWS webmaster by reviewing submissions to the AWS to insure
they meet editorial requirements.

2. Review copy for spelling and grammatical errors.

3. Perform HTML for submissions of files not delivered by the submitting
bodies in HTML code and/or work with submitting bodies to develop their
abilities to provide files properly coded in HTML.

5. Have primary responsibility for updating individual ARLIS/NA
administrative pages using information passed on to the Editor by the
Executive Board (Chapter page, Committee page, etc.).

6. Liaison with the AWS Webmaster and pass on vetted files for loading on
the AWS to the Webmaster.

7. Report issues regarding editorial policies and practices which require
re-evaluation or revision to the AWSAB in an ongoing effort to create as
streamlined a flow as possible from Society submitters to the AWS Editor to
the AWS Webmaster.

8. Defer inquiries and issues regarding the creation of new AWS sections;
changes to design, intellectual content, or editorial policy; advertising
policy; or server functionality to the AWSAB, the AWS Webmaster, or
Headquarters as appropriate. Assist the AWSAB and Webmaster in implementing
AWS policies as necessary.

Term: Two-year, renewable.

Honorarium: $1,000 annually [beginning FY2001].

==========

The sole purpose of the AWS Editor is editorial only, although the Editor
will assist the AWSAB in design issues as necessary. The Editor will be
positioned as the intermediary between the Society's bodies submitting HTML
or Word files and the AWS Webmaster at Headquarters who will be loading the
files onto our ISP's server. The submitting bodies (Committees, DSRTs,
etc.) will be responsible for actually revising the text from year to year
(new deadlines for award applications, new application forms, etc.) and
submitting in either in an agreed HTML template or an agreed Word template.
The Editor will review and revise these files as necessary and pass them
on to the Webmaster at HQ, who will load the files and oversee server
issues. The Editor will be required to mark up administrative files as
necessary from edited text supplied by the Executive Board (annual
revisions of Chapter officers, Committee members, Policy Manual revisions,
etc.).

Must have working knowledge of HTML coding, including some HTML-design
software (e.g. Dreamweaver, FrontPage, MSWord, Communicator, etc.).

Applications will be made to Roberto C. Ferrari, Chair of the AWSAB, and
the AWSAB will forward an appointment recommendation to the Society
President. Deadline for receipt of applications is Friday, December 1,
2000 by 5:00 PM. Fax and email submissions acceptable (email attachments
must be in Word97 format). Anticipated date of decision will be December
15, 2000 with AWS Editor position to start on January 1, 2001.
