i have looked in bibliofind on line and found nothing. david brigham and i
have pretty much gone through all the likely possibilities of where i saw
the catalogs, though of course acquiring them is another matter. if steven
jones in philly doesn't know of a course, i'd say it's a pretty dead end
issue. steve has been dealing in af-am books for many years and certainly
knows the philly scene. has anybody tried the archives of american art? i'm
trying to think deeply here and might wonder if artists had copies of the
catalogs that were copied.

the one citation i have is this:

Author | Pyramid Club
Title | You Are Cordially Invited to Attend the Second Annual Fall Review of
Paintings and Sculpture, 1956--New York, Washington and Philadelphia at the
Pyramid Club, 1517 W. Girard Avenue, Philadelphia, from October 26, 1956,
through November 26, 1956
Date | 1956
Comment | . Philadelphia. Exhibition catalog. Exhibition list includes 18
black artists; illus. by Romare Bearden, Humbert Howard; Bearden biography
and statement, "The Artistic Imagination"; Edwin Earl Lewis, "Conversation";
awards list mentions Bearden, Lewis; Pyramid Club Officers' list mentions
Humbert Howard, Dox Thrash; sponsors include Hale Woodruff; Pyramid
Committee on Fine Arts includes Howard, Samuel Curtis, Thrash.

so it might be possible that any of the artists mentioned might have
something in their files at the archives of american art or have you asked
the smithsonian american art museum if they have a file for pyramid? they
have some pretty awesome vertical files. one of the problems in finding
these things is that they are probably too little to bind and so get
relegated to vertical files. all of the SAAM librarians are great helpers.
best of luck.

> Dear Colleagues,
> Our curator of American art has asked me to locate copies of
annual

> artists. He has 1941,43,46,52,55 and 57. Most useful to him is the 1945
> issue. The titles are "Catalogue of the Third Exhibition...", etc.

> Separate from the annual exhibition catalogs is "The Pictorial Album," a
