VISUAL RESOURCES  LIBRARIAN
Works as part of a team of professional librarians in acquiring,
cataloging, and circulating, appropriate collections for the Otis
Library with a primary responsibility for the visual resources (slides,
CD-ROMS, visual databases, videos, websites, sound recordings, etc.).
Works closely with faculty. Supervises and trains student workers. Works
closely with the Director and the team to plan for digitization and
other long-range needs for the Library.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The position is full time (37.5 hours/week). Requires an MLS. with an
undergraduate degree in Art or Art History; or an MA in Art History with
additional coursework or experience in librarianship. Experience in a
slide library or visual resources collection is preferred.
Classification and management experience is required. Experience with
digital imaging and electronic information technologies an asset. Other
requirements: strong commitment to pro-active library service and
enthusiasm for work with students and faculty; ability to initiate,
plan, and implement projects, both independently and as a member of a
team; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and
a vision for technology in libraries.

INFORMATION ABOUT OTIS
Otis College of Art & Design is a fully accredited professional college
offering B.F.A. degrees in Fine Arts, Graphic Design and Illustration,
Environmental Design, Digital Media, Toy Design, and Fashion Design.
There is also a small M.F.A. degree program. The program of study
includes a strong liberal arts component including a required 1-unit
Information Literacy course. Currently, there are 990 students and
growing. The Library is considered a valuable component of the
educational program and has initiated distance learning, online database
collections, and website development for the college. Holdings include:
40,000 books, 4,000 videos, 100,000 slides. Planning is currently
underway for image databases.
