Technical Services Librarian: Begins December 1, 2000
Job Description:
Pacific NW College of Art's Charles Voorhies Fine Arts Library shall open
in January 2001. The library has an opening for a cataloger/acquisitions
librarian as a member of the Library Director's staff. The hired individual
will coordinate all cataloging activities for our LC based library and have
detailed knowledge of contemporary cataloging tools including AACRII, LC
Classification, LCSH, USMARC format. Time on job is 2/3 cataloging /
acquisitions activities and 1/3 reference or other needed duties during a
35 hour week. Working on Saturdays may be necessary but would be on a
rotating basis. Salary is a firm $26,000 per year plus benefits.
Minimum Qualifications:
MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited school. Bachelors degree in studio art
or art history plus 1-3 years professional work experience. Fluent in
Macintosh computer operating systems and networked environments. Knowledge
of database systems, online arts resources, and cataloging practices is
essential. Participation in professional associations is preferred.
The candidate should be able to work independently, creatively,
analytically, and be capable of relating to fellow staff with a high degree
of communicative skill and a sense of collaborative purpose. The candidate
will be part of a team consisting of a FT circulation manager, a library
director, and WS students. Intellectual flexibility is essential.
