About the FIDM: The Los Angeles campus is nestled in the 15-acre Grand-Hope Park, with its mosaic water fountains, ivy-covered arbor walks, and metal sculptures. The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising provides a post-secondary education leading to an Associate of Arts degree in Apparel Manufacturing Management, Cosmetics & Fragrance Merchandising, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Merchandise Marketing, Textile Design, Theatre Costume and Visual Communications. The building was designed by famed architect Jon Jerde, the designer of Universal Citywalk, Horton Plaza and, most recently, the Bellagio resort in Las Vegas. FIDM Resource and Research Center: The Resource & Research Center houses a book collection of over 10,000 titles, with emphasis in fashion, interior design, retailing and costume, over 160 international periodicals, trade publications, newspaper clipping files, and fashion predictive reports from 15 various fashion forecasting services. Also included in the collection are visual presentation materials consisting of a selection of catalogs of props, mannequins, store fixtures, and other visual presentations and display materials for retail. The Resource & Research Center also contains a Rare Books Room featuring 19th and 20th century fashion magazines, out-of-print books, original fashion sketches by renowned designers, and material on the California apparel industry, the International Fashion Video Division with over 4000 videos, slides, audiotapes, CD ROM's, film strips and transparencies, the Textile Division providing fabric swatches and samples for student projects, and the Interior Design Workroom with a sample collection of wall coverings, window treatments, flooring, and upholstery. The FIDM Resource & Research Center serves the information needs of students, educators, scholars, researchers, industry, press and the general public. Current exhibition: OHYA: The Wizard of Jeans is a presentation of books which are clothes and vice versa. Inspired by the Wizard of Oz, the series of 21 handmade books combine art and ready-to-wear-culture. Hiroaki Ohya, born 1970 in Kumamoto, Japan, graduated from Bunka Fashion College in 1992, and became a member of the Miyake Design Studio team. Directions to FIDM: DIRECTIONS from 10 East FWY: 1.
