The New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting & Sculpture seeks candidates for the position of Art Librarian. The New York Studio School is a small, highly regarded institution where drawing, painting and sculpture are explored in depth. It embodies an attitude of seriousness, dedication and commitment to the rigors of becoming an artist. The School offers a three-year Certificate Program, Drawing Marathons, and evening and weekend classes. It is located in New York's Greenwich Village. RESPONSIBILITIES: § Solely responsible for managing the John McEnroe Library of the New York Studio School. § Provides reference services in art history to students, staff and faculty. § Serves as the Studio School's web master. § Responsible for collection development in art and art history. § Catalogs books and exhibition catalogs. § Responsible for maintenance of picture file slide collections. § Organizes and maintains video archive. § Automation of library catalog § Supervises work-study students. QUALIFICATIONS: § ALA-accredited MLS § Undergraduate degree in Art History or Studio Art. § Knowledge of HTML and experience with web design § Knowledge or experience in the fields of fine art or art history. § Personable and outgoing; enthusiasm and respect in dealings with students, staff and visitors § Ability to work independently.
