THE ART LIBRARY AT QUEENS COLLEGE/CITY
UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK
seeks applicants for Substitute Art Librarian for
September 2000–August 2001, with possibility of
renewal for additional year.

The Art Librarian works closely with the Head of the Art
Library, in a dynamic specialized library setting, providing
a broad range of services to patrons.  As part of the
Queens College Libraries team, the Art Librarian will also
participate in general reference, instruction, and other
projects.

Duties:
Referenceassistance to patrons in the Art Library and
    at general reference, using local and networked
    electronic resources and print; as scheduled (may
    include night)
Instructionto students and faculty
Facilitatesaccess to information resources (includes
    building Web pages)
Collectiondevelopment in areas of expertise (print and
    electronic resources); may include other liberal arts
    disciplines
Collectiondevelopment and supervision of processing
    of non-book materials (pamphlets, exhibition catalogs,
    visual materials)
Supervisescollection maintenance
Supervisessupport staff and volunteers
Participatesin policy, procedure and program planning
Overallresponsibility for the Art Library in the absence
    of Head Art Librarian
Participatesin Departmental and College activities
Cooperateswith the art and art library community,
    including activity in professional organizations
Otherduties as needed and as assigned

Qualifications:
MLS from ALA accredited program; graduate degree in
    art history preferred
Relevantprofessional experience
Managementand supervisory experience
Currentworking knowledge of art, its literature and
    resources
Foreignlanguages facility
Leadershipand organizational abilities
Abilityto teach
Excellentinterpersonal and communication skills

Salary:
        Assistant Professor (MLS & subject graduate degree):
$32,703 = $57,049
        Instructor (MLS only): $29,997 - $48,284
        (depending upon qualifications and experience)
        This is a full-time position.
