This book represents the first attempt in half a century to assemble the
immense body of literature about Aubrey Beardsley into a coherent whole.
Owing to Beardsley's popularity as draftsman and illustrator, scholarship
on this artist has mushroomed out of control and encouraged various
ambiguities and oft-repeated errors. Mark Samuels Lasner's checklist
attempts to combat such misconceptions while providing the reader with new
information.

The book is arranged chronologically, providing a list of the books and
periodicals which contain Beardsley's drawings, illustrations, designs, and
bindings. Beardsley's own writings, published during his lifetime and
posthumously, as well as posters, bookplates, and ephemera are all
assembled here in bibliographic form. Lasner's work provides an essential
and extensive index with cross references to previous standard sources.
This work will soon be a standard reference for all collectors, curators
and booksellers interested in Aubrey Beardsley.

Mark Samuels Lasner is a recognized authority on Victorian art and
literature. He is the author of William Allingham: A Bibliographic Study
(1993), coauthor of several books on England in 1880s and 1890s, and
president of the William Morris Society of the United States. Published by
Thomas G. Boss Fine Books.
