The Massachusetts College of Art seeks a strong and experienced leader
to
Direct its library and information services. Must advocate for the
library at the
campus, state, professional, and art world levels. The Director
administers
library operations, including services, resources, long range planning,
policy
implementation, staff development, facilities, fiscal management, and
financial support. The ideal candidate will be able to integrate new
information technologies into teaching and services, and will have a
flexible nature and experience working in a dynamic environment with
rapid change.

Qualifications: Required: ALA-accredited M.L.S. Minimum three years'
library management
experience, preferably in an academic setting. Effective communication
skills
and demonstrated leadership in shared decision-making. Computer
proficiency.  Desired: Experience in Art History, Studio Art, or related
Humanities.

Resume review for this position will begin in late August with
anticipation of interviews scheduled in mid to late September.  The
starting date for this position is January 1, 2001, with the possibility
of an earlier hire date if circumstances allow.
