JOB POSTING Cataloger #00-40 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Cleveland Museum of Art's Ingalls Library seeks an experienced Cataloger to perform original and copy cataloging of book and non-book materials in English and all other European languages in the field of art. Other responsibilities include establishing authority headings for the ArtNACO funnel project, resolving complex cataloging and authority problems, maintenance of bibliographic records, and reference duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in art history; master's degree in library science (M.L.S.); one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience working in a library, preferably in a cataloging department, required. Comprehensive knowledge of current cataloging practices required. This includes working knowledge of AACR2 Rev. ed. cataloging rules, LCSH subject headings, and MARC21 format. Familiarity with an automated catalog (Dynix preferred) and an online bibliographic utility (RLIN preferred) also desirable. Foreign language background, especially in German, French or Italian, required, as well as a proficiency in using dictionaries for other foreign languages. Excellent organizational, research, and problem-solving skills. Must have basic computer skills. NORMAL WORK HOURS: 35 hour work week.
