Reporting to the Librarian of the Frances Loeb Library/Assistant Dean for
Information Services,
oversees the Public Services Department (circulation, reserves,
interlibrary loan, shelving, reference, bibliographic instruction);
supervises 4 circulation assistants; establishes policies and procedures in
support of library goals; develops new systems and services to increase
efficiency of operations; provides in-depth reference services; schedules
reference staff; trains and supervises reference assistants; manages
bibliographic instruction programs; creates guides and tools; presents
bibliographic instruction programs to students and faculty; provides
training for and searches electronic databases; investigates other
electronic resources as part of developing the library's collections and
home page; manages the library's interlibrary loan activity; trains and
supervises staff; implements new methods of document delivery service;
participates in team coordination of development of library's website;
oversees development departmental pages; develops new services and
programs; responsible for some collection development activity; maintains
statistics for department activities; provides summaries and other reports
as needed; serves on university library and GSD committees; represents
library at regional and national meetings. REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited
library degree (MLS) or equivalent, educational background and/or work
experience in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design or closely
related field.  Minimum 5 years experience in a public services
environment, with demonstrated ability to initiate new library services;
proven managerial and organizational skills, with excellent written and
oral communication ability.  Competency in an electronic environment.
Willingness to work collegially and ability to lead in a team environment.
