I want to thank everyone for their comments on Worldwide Books. It s good
to hear we do many things right...and also to learn where we need
improvements.
I don t normally interject into the ARLIS ListServ but, since we came up as
a topic, I thought I might respond just this once.
There seems to be a persistent rumor that Kraus bought the company and
Brian Gold left. Just for the record, the Kraus Organization Ltd. has owned
Worldwide Books since 1978 and promoted Brian to Director. Brian asked to
step down in the spring of 1998. Kraus then hired me. Brian left in August
of 1999. I was sorry to see him go; he was one of the most knowledgeable
people I have ever met on art book and catalogue publishing (and I ve been
in the business almost thirty years).
Shipments are back on track after our computer conversion and we are now
concentrating on selecting titles for our customers in a more timely
fashion. Thanks for your patience during these transitions.
