Subject: Ubername Contest Winner =26 list of submitted titles

----------------------------Original message----------------------------
------------------
As requested: Here is a listing of names submitted for our contest. Thanks =
for
all the ideas folks=21=21=21=21
Possible Uber Names:

Library =26 Information Resource Center
Learning is good Center (might offend)
Pacific northwest tall trees of knowledge center (ditto)
PNWCA Center (sounds like accounting firm library?)
The Library et al.
The Center (will make saying the library is the center of the campus
easy)
The Center and microbrew gardens?
SLAM Center, standing for Special Collections, Library, Archives and Media
collection.
Library =26 Resource Centre
The PNCA InfoSensorium
LibraryPlus or LibraryPLUSHow about one of the oldest and least used words =
for
a library:
Library and Information Services
Information and Library Services
PNCA Information Service Bureau
PNCA Information Services
Education Resources and Research Center
Education Resources Complex (are the collections housed separately or =
together?)
Resources for the Scholastically Inspired
Library and Information Resource Center
Information Resource Center
Library and Media Center
Education Resouce Center
The Atrium
And the Winning Name:
The Athenaeum or, The Northwest Athenaeum The original Athenaeum was the =
temple
of Athena,
where philosophers, poets and intellectuals gathered. The fourth definition=
 in
my edition of Webster defines athenaeum as =22any building or hall used as a
library or reading room=22. There are a number of distinguished athenaeums =
here
in the Northeast, e.g., the Boston Athenaeum, the Wadsworth Athenaeum in
Hartford, and the Providence Athenaeum, but probably not too many in the =
Pacific
Northwest.
It's a noble, fitting word for a place where study and learning are
paramount.

And the Winner of the Uber Naming Contest is ........

Raymond Smith.

Art---R.C.)
Atleast now I can start ordering printed materials=21=21=21=21=21=21
