NINCH ANNOUNCEMENT News on Networking Cultural Heritage Resources from across the Community July 11, 2000 European Academic Software Awards - Jurors sought Contact: =3Cmailto:palatine=40lancaster.ac.uk=3E =3EDate: Mon, 10 Jul 2000 16:04:29 +0100 () =3ESubject: European Academic Software Awards - Jurors sought =3EFrom: Alastair Dunning =3Calastair.dunning=40ahds.ac.uk=3E =3ETo: ahds-all=40mailbase.ac.uk =3EReply-To: Alastair Dunning =3Calastair.dunning=40ahds.ac.uk=3E =3E =3EThis message is from Lisa Whistlecroft of PALATINE =3E =3E =3E =3E Dear Colleagues, =3E =3E =3E =3E The European Academic Software Awards is a biennial event seeking = out and recognising the best in academic software and its use in Higher Education. =3E =3E =3E =3E This is a call for jurors for the Arts and Humanities section of the =3E =3E competition - and for your help in finding them. My apologies for duplicates of this message. =3E =3E =3E =3E What does a juror do? =3E =3E --------------------- =3E =3E =3E =3E You would receive two or three entries to evaluate - plus guidance = on what is required. You would examine the software and it associated documentation= and evaluate its usefulness. Then you would fill in an evaluation form for the software. =3E =3E =3E =3E What disciplines are covered? =3E =3E ----------------------------- =3E =3E =3E =3E The Arts and Humanities section covers Visual Art, Design, = Music,Theatre Arts, History, Social History, Literature etc (as one would expect=21) = Needless to say, you may be asked to look at entries that are not in your own = specialist area. That is OK, because there should be a specialist looking at it too. =3E =3E =3E =3E Is there a deadline for the work? =3E =3E --------------------------------- =3E =3E =3E =3E Yes - and it's quite soon=21 So this fascinating opportunity will = not take up all of your summer=21 =3E =3E =3E =3E What reward is there? =3E =3E --------------------- =3E =3E =3E =3E Well, like virtue, much of the reward lies in the job itself=21 I = have been a juror in the past and it really is interesting to see the very latest in educational software, to try it out and to comment on its value and quality. =3E =3E =3E =3E Some jurors will be also invited to the final stage of the = competition, in the Netherlands (in November). =3E =3E =3E =3E European? =3E =3E ---------- =3E =3E =3E =3E Yes. Entries are from many European countries, and we are looking = for jurors from as many countries as possible as each entry will be judged by = more than one juror and in more than one country. In the Arts and Humanities = section there are entries that require jurors who are happy to work with Dutch, with English, or with German. Knowledge of other languages or other countries' = HE systems is an added bonus. =3E What happens next? =3E =3E ------------------ =3E =3E =3E =3E If you are interested in finding out more please get in touch as = soon as possible. If you have postgraduate students who would be interested, please= get them to contact us similarly. If you know of any mailing list in the Arts = or Humanities, please fell free to forward this call. If you have contacts or colleagues in European universities who might be interested, please pass the message on to them. =3E =3E =3E =3E This is an exciting and worthwhile event in the academic calendar - = your help with making it a success will be greatly appreciated. =3E =3E =3E =3E With all good wishes, =3E =3E =3E =3E Lisa Whistlecroft =3E =3E =3E =3E =3E---------------------------------------------------------------------- =3E------ =3E =3E Lisa Whistlecroft EASA 2000 Arts and Humanities Coordinator =3E =3E =3E =3E =3E =3E PALATINE: the Performing Arts Learning and Teaching Innovation = Network =3E =3E =3E =3E The Great Hall =3E =3E Lancaster University =3E =3E Lancaster =3E =3E LA1 4YW =3E =3E United Kingdom =3E =3E =3E =3E Email: palatine=40lancaster.ac.uk =3E =3E Tel: +44 (0)1524 593776 =3E =3E Fax: +44 (0)1524 593939 =3E =3E WWW: http://www.lancs.ac.uk/Palatine =3E =3E =3E =3E Learning and Teaching Support Network (LTSN) Centre for the = Performing Arts =3E =3E =3E=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D== 3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3= D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D =3E=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D =3E =3EAlastair Dunning =3EArts and Humanities Data Service =3E75-79 York Road (8th Floor) =3ELONDON SE1 7AW =3E0207 928 7848 =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D== 3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3= D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D NINCH-Announce is an announcement listserv, produced by the National Initiative for a Networked Cultural Heritage (NINCH).
