----------------------------Original message----------------------------
Fellow ARLIS members,

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is proud to announce that we have
finally worked out all the bugs associated with the new web version of our
on-line catalogue, WebCat. Although we have had a web page for almost a
year now (designed by our 1998/99 UCLA intern, Mario Ascencio), we have only
had telnet access to our catalogue on the web page. When we first brought
up WebCat, we found that the message parameters as they were would not
handle the increased traffic and then found that the frames used on LACMA's
website are incompatible with the WebCat software. So after all this,
everything is finally working smoothly.

You can access WebCat directly at:

http://library1.lacma.org:8081

or through the LACMA website http://www.lacma.org under "libraries and
research".

We have been working hard on retrospective conversion for the past several
years and at this point, we have around 90% of our 130,000 items in the
on-line catalogue.

If you have any problems using our site, please send your problem to
[log in to unmask] - and not the webmaster.
