Dr. Weidman,
The mission statement of the Arthur D. Jenkins Library of Textile Arts
at The Textile Museum in Washington, DC reads:
The Arthur D. Jenkins Library supports the institutional mission of The
Textile Museum: to further an understanding and appreciation of mankind's
achievements in the textile arts. The Library collects and makes accessible
to the Museum staff, to scholars, and to the general public, literature and
visual resources which reflect and interpret the Museum's collections and
which support research in the broader field of textile studies.
The Museum intends to revise the Museum's mission statement and to
substitute "humanity's" for "mankind's" in the first sentence.

To my colleagues at Museum Libraries, I'd be most grateful if you
would
share your Mission Statements with me, in whatever format you have
them in.
Many thanks,
