Job Code: MC/916W
Duties: Catalogs, classifies, and supervises the processing of library
materials as assigned (books, serials, videos, films, CD-ROMS). Insures
that all cataloging meets current national standards and conforms to local
policies. Contributes to cooperative cataloging and bibliographic control
programs in OCLC and ILLINET Online. Works with Technical Services staff to
establish goals, priorities, policies, and procedures. Reports to the Head
of Technical Services.
Qualifications: M.L.S. degree from ALA-accredited institution (completed or
in process).
Minimum of two years of professional or para-professional experience in
on-line cataloging using a major bibliographic utility. Demonstrated
ability to interact well with staff in the process of planning and change.
Knowledge of LC classification, LCSH, MARC and AACR2. Experience using DRA
and Windows95 and/ or Windows NT preferred. Background in art, art
history, and knowledge of material preservation techniques a plus.
This is a 20-hour per week position.
