Colleagues:

Those of you interested in children's books for a possible ARLIS conference
presentation may want to check out this study:

The Case of Peter Rabbit: Changing Conditions of Literature for Children,
Garland, 1998, 0-8153-3094-4

According to the blurb at www.garlandpub.com , this book "...uses the
example of The Tale of Peter Rabbit to explore the impact of new media and
technologies on how children learn about stories and reading,...investigates
nearly 100 re-tellings in a variety of media, some authorized by Potter's
publisher, Warne, some unauthorized."

FWIW, I've not located any independent reviews of the book so far, after an
admittedly cursory look-see in things like Infotrac and ProQuest, but it
sounds pretty interesting if kid lit is your cup of tea. Apparently it's
volume 7 of a series: Children's Literature and Culture.

Cheers
