----------------------------Original message----------------------------
Dear Colleagues:

Now that everyone has has returned from a nice, long holiday weekend it is
time to fill out a survey! You might remember that at our business meeting
in Pittsburgh there was much discussion about the difficulty in getting
funding to attend ARLIS conferences. There was wide variation among members
as to who get partial/full/no funding, time off, etc. Members thought an
informal survey might be a good idea to get a better picture of the problem.
I have included a few questions I think cover the problem, but any
additional comments/elaboration are welcome.

When I have received your replies I will collate the information and send
the results over ARLIS-L as well as publish them in our next Update column.

Although I know summer vacations are upon us (I hope all public librarians
get some vacation!) if you could respond by July 1 I would appreciate it.
You can e-mail me your replies at jstephens@queenslibrary, or if you wish to
send by snail mail, send to my home address:

Jeffrey Stephens / 2536 Lurting Ave. / Bronx, NY 10469

You do not have to sign your name if you wish confidentiality.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.
