Dena Epstein Award

This award was created to support research in archives or libraries
internationally on any aspect of American Music.

Jo Burgess (Assistant Librarian and Head of Conservation Services, Indiana
University, Bloomington). Award granted to support fieldwork research on
southern Illinois folk music.

Karen Rege (Musicologist and Librarian, Delaware College of Art and Design).
Award granted to support research on Arthur Farwell and his relationship to =
the
Arts and Crafts Movement of the early 20th century.

Kevin Freeman Travel Grant

The grant supports travel and hotel expenses to attend the Music Library
Association's annual meeting.  The applicant must be a member of the Music
Library Association and either be in the first three years of his/her
professional career, a graduate library school student (by the time of the
conference in February 2000), aspiring to become a music librarian, or a =
recent
graduate (within one year of degree) of a graduate program in librarianship =
who
is seeking a professional position as a music librarian.

Gerboth Award

Gary Dale Vargason, Jr. (Eastman School of Music)

Mr. Vargason plans to expand his Master's thesis at the State University of =
New
York at Buffalo on Ernst Bacon into a monographic bio-bibliography of the
composer.

John M. Bewley (State University of New York at Buffalo)

Mr. Bewley plans to study the scores in both the Ormandy and the Stokowski
archives that were marked and/or arranged by them, to analyze their
contributions (and those of their copyists) to the =22Philadelphia Sound.=22
