***Tour A take approximately tow hours, from 9:30--11:45 a.m., on
Saturday, of Wright's private residence. Contact Lyn Korenic
immediately (telephone number 608/ 263-2256). Tour A cost $40.00 and is
non-refundable. Send check payable to Lyn Korenic.
****Tour B is approximately one hour, from 12 noon to 1:15 p.m.,
Saturday, of Hillside Studio & Theatre (tickets paid on site).
You may take one or both tours, if you wish to tour.

Meeting registration fees are $10 for members of ARLIS/Midstates, $12

--Friday May 5, 2000
8:30-9:15 a.m. -- Registration with coffee & muffins provided by your
co-hosts, in Oscar Hagen Room
9:30-10:15 -- guided tour of "Beads, Body and Soul: Art and Light in the
Yoruba Universe, by Professor Henry Drewal, co-curator of exhibit
10:15-10:30 -- break
10:30-11:15 -- ARLIS/Midstates business meeting
11:15-12 noon -- VRA business meeting
12:15-1:30 -- lunch in newly opened Fluno Center for Executive Education
(Arts & Crafts decor); payable on site. Cost: $12.50 includes cold & hot
buffet plus tempting deserts.
1:30-2:30 -- slide presentation by Betty Jo Irvine on "Art Libraries in
China"
2:30-3:10 -- free time to tour Kohler Art Library, Elvehjem Museum of
Art, and/or tour the Art History Dept. Slide Library with slide curator
Tom Gombar.
3:10-3:30 -- walk up State Street to Wisconsin State Capitol
3:30-4:30 -- guided tour of newly renovated Wisconsin State Capitol
(Kenyon Cox mosaics, Edwin Howland Blashfield dome mural, Daniel Chester
French dome statue, Elmer Ellsworth Garnsey decorative work)
For those staying overnight on May 5, we would like to suggest getting
together at a local restaurant for a group dinner.
Also, the local art scene can be enjoyed by exploring Madison art
galleries and museums during Gallery Night 5:00-9:00 p.m.

Taliesin tour A: two hour tour showing Wright's private house, his
furniture and art collections. Cost: $40.00. Non-refundable
reservations in advance.
Taliesin tour B: one hour. Introduces Wright and his work. Cost: $10
payable on site.
Saturday lunch: Recommended is Riverview Terrace and Cafe (formerly
Spring Green Restaurant; is designed by Frank LLoyd Wright). (Rides can
be shared, with your co-hosts).

Thursday (May 4) rate is special rate: $59/ 1 person, $69/ 2 persons.
Friday May 5 and Saturday May 6: $99/room; (with no limit to number of

Special rate $74/1 person; $80/ 2 persons. To get special rate, say you
are attending ARLIS/NA conference at UW. Includes: continental
breakfast, and fee parking. Note: 8 rooms are being held for May 4,
Thursday. For Friday May 5, there are 5 rooms being held. For Saturday
May 6, there are 5 rooms being held. These are being held through
April 28.
--Howard Johnson Plaza Motel, 525 West Johnson, Tel reservations:

asking for group code ALS. Included: parking. No continental breakfast
provided, but there is a restaurant available at hotel.

Special rate for May 4: $89/ 1 person. These are smoking rooms that
are available. $104/ 2 persons. Rate for both May 5 and May 6: $134/ 1
person; $154/ 2 persons. Get special rate by saying you are attending a
UW conference. Continental breakfasts are provided only for suites.
Free parking included for all.
Parking:
If you are staying overnight in one of the hotels, it is best to leave
your care there and to walk to Kohler Art Library. If you are driving
for the day, there is paid parking in the Lake Street Parking Ramp
located on Lake Street between State Street and University Avenue and
Campus Parking Lot 46 located on Lake Street between University and
Johnson Street.
