The Architecture and Allied Arts (AAA) Library includes holdings of more than 75,000 volumes, 470 journals and serials, and an extensive Visual Resources Collection. It serves the research and instructional needs of graduate and undergraduate degree programs in art history, fine and applied arts, arts and administration, architecture, interior architecture, landscape architecture, historic preservation=3B and planning, public policy, and management. Special strengths include art and architectural history, East Asian art, artists' books, and environmental design. The AAA Library has 6 FTE and several student assistants. The University of Oregon is an ARL library serving over 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 760 full-time faculty members. Its two million-volume collection serves as an important research facility for scholars for all its operations, and is host site to Orbis, a consortium of fourteen colleges and universities in Oregon and Washington with a shared catalog. RESPONSIBILITIES: As a member of the AAA Library faculty, this position provides reference, collection development, and instructional services in art history, architecture, fine arts, and related disciplines. Additional responsibilities and opportunities include collaboration with faculty in the design and delivery of credit courses, developing new services in the area of information technology, facilities planning, and serving on committees in the Library, the School of Architecture and Allied Arts, and at the University level. Library faculty members are also encouraged to be professionally active through involvement in regional and national associations and/or research and publication. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited MLS degree=3B strong academic background in art history, architecture, or fine arts=3B reading knowledge of one foreign language (German, French, Italian, Japanese, or Chinese)=3B excellent oral and written communication skills=3B commitment to public service=3B ability = to work effectively with all levels of students, faculty, and staff=3B demonstrated familiarity with art and architecture resources, including electronic resources=3B and potential to excel in a dynamic and challenging academic library environment. Preferred: experience in an academic or research library=3B graduate degree in one of the disciplines served by the AAA Library. SALARY: =2430,000 minimum. Appointment beyond the minimum salary will be dependent upon qualifications, prior experience, and academic rank.
