        The Graduate Program in Book History at Drew University presents a free
public lecture:


                        PAUL GUTJAHR

                        will speak on

                        LEFT BEHIND:
 AMAZON.COM, READER RESPONSE, AND THE MAKING OF SACRED TEXTS IN AMERICA

                Thursday, March 2, at 8 pm

               Drew University, Madison, NJ

        Paul Gutjahr is Assistant Professor of English and American Studies at
Indiana University.  He recently published *An American Bible: A History of
the Good Book in the United States, 1777-1880* (Stanford University Press)
and has coedited a forthcoming collection of essays entitled *Illuminated
Letters: Essays in Typography and Literary Interpretation* (University of
Massachusetts Press).  He is currently a fellow at Princeton University's
Center for the Study of Religion.

        There will be a reception following the lecture, hosted by the Friends of
the Drew University Library.  This lecture is funded by a grant from the
Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation.
