Urbanek, an art professor from Oakland Park, Florida, is the 1999 winner of the $2000 annual Florida Artists' Book Prize. Her winning book, entitled "We Come Out As We Are Needed," uses narrative and photographs taken in Fort Lauderdale to tell a story of political protest. The $2000 award will be presented during a ceremony at 6 p.m. March 9th, 2000, in the Bienes Center for the Literary Arts, 6th Floor, Broward County Library, 100 S. Andrews Ave., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33301. The 28 entries in this year's contest are on exhibit in the Bienes Center now through April 1st.
