Cathy, The best slide cabinets are Newmade. You can get cheaper ones, but you will probably regret it later. We have stackable slide file cabinets from Highsmith. They were fine until we starting organizing the collection and added dividers. The dividers are slightly higher than the slides, so they jam. The source of all knowledge for slide cabinets is the Visual Resources Association's listserv, which has a searchable archive (http://listserv.uark.edu/archives/vra-l.html). There was some discussion a few months ago about making slide trays, and Rubbermaid drawer organizers were mentioned. You might be able to retrofit the card catalog if you can figure out how to fix the organizers in the drawers. I suppose you could just glue them in.
