----------------------------Original message---------------------------- The Special Collections Department of the University of Delaware Library announces a new web exhibition, Progress Made Visible: American World's Fairs and Expositions. The web exhibit, which mirrors an actual exhibit in the Special Collections Gallery, can be seen at: http://www.lib.udel.edu/ud/spec/exhibits/fairs/index.htm Special Collections houses a wealth of primary source materials relating to World's Fairs and Expositions held in the United States between 1876 and 1939. Guidebooks, official reports, photographic view books, trade catalogs, and children's books, as well as ephemeral material such as invitations, souvenirs, trade cards, and photographs are represented. The exhibit is organized by individual fair or exhibition and includes the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition (1876), the World's Columbian Exposition (1893),the Pan-American Exposition (1901), the Louisiana Purchase Exposition (1904), the Sesqui-Centennial (1926), and the New York World's fair (1939).
