deadline to apply for stipends for the Architectural Records Conference.
Applications will be accepted if postmarked by February 15, 2000.  (The =3D

deadline was February 8.)  The notification date remains February 29, 2000.

The Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA) and the =3D
National
Park Service Museum Management Program are cosponsoring a three-day =3D
conference
on the management of architectural records, from Wednesday, May 3 through
Friday, May 5, 2000, at The Athenaeum of Philadelphia.  The goal of this
conference is to improve practices for preserving, managing, and providing
access to the documentation of our built heritage.  Twenty speakers will =3D
address
the challenges involved in managing architectural records collections, on =
=3D
both
theoretical and practical levels, through keynote addresses, lectures, case
studies, demonstrations, and tours.

This conference was made possible, in part, with special funding from the
National Park Service Cultural Resources Training Initiative.  Grant =
funding=3D
 has
been provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Graham
Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, The Pew Charitable =
Trusts,=3D
 The
Independence Foundation, The Barra Foundation, and Nielsen =3D26 Bainbridge.

CONFERENCE STIPENDS

Financial assistance of up to =3D24500 is available to defray travel, =
lodging,=3D
 and
registration costs for up to 20 individuals.  To be eligible, individuals =
=3D
must
work with architectural records that are available to the public in =3D
non-profit
institutions with annual budgets of =3D24250,000 or less.

Application Process

Applicants must submit:

=3D2A A one-page letter that addresses their institution's need for staff =
=3D
training
in this area=3D3B commitment to preserving architectural records and making =
=3D
them
accessible to the public=3D3B and readiness to address these needs.  The =3D
letter
should also include a brief description of the architectural records held =
by=3D
 the
institution (unless covered in the institutional profile).

 =3D
the
applicant's attendance at the conference

=3D2A Proof of tax-exempt status

=3D2A Most recent financial statement

=3D2A A brief institutional profile or brochure

Deadline to Apply for Conference Stipends: Applications must be postmarked =

The Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA), established =
=3D
in
1977, is a non-profit regional conservation laboratory serving other =3D
non-profit
cultural, educational, and research institutions, as well as private =3D
individuals
and organizations.  CCAHA specializes in the treatment of works of art and
historic artifacts on paper, such as prints, maps, posters, architectural
drawings, historic wallpaper, photographs, rare books, scrapbooks, =3D
manuscripts,
and related materials, such as parchment and papyrus.  It also offers =3D
on-site
consultation services=3D3B educational programs and seminars=3D3B =
internships,
fellowships, and apprenticeships=3D3B and emergency conservation assistance.
