CIRCULATION MANAGER - OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA

ORGANIZATION:
Founded in 1907 at the height of the Arts and Crafts movement, CCAC is the
largest regionally accredited, independent school of art and design in the
western United States. Noted for the interdisciplinary nature and breadth of
its programs, CCAC is organized around three principal academic units: Fine
Arts, Design and Architecture. With campuses in Oakland and San Francisco,
CCAC currently has an enrollment of approximately 1,100 full-time students.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Primarily responsible for the accurate and courteous service to library users
in Meyer Library; coordinates inter-branch and inter-library loans; maintains
the Library s Innopac circulation system; supervises 10-15 student employees.
REPORTS TO: Director of Libraries
DEPARTMENT: Library
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Maintains the Innopac circulation system.
Runs statistical reports on schedule.
Hires, trains, schedules and supervises 10-15 student Circulation Assistants
each semester.
Implements circulation policies and procedures, resolves disputes and
complaints, sends accurate and timely notices for holds, overdues, recalls,
and patron blocks.
Accurately and tactfully determines and collects charges for lost or damaged
Library materials. Coordinates with Business Office and Registrar to correctly
handle fees, bills, and student blocks.
Manages the Innopac Reserve Module, and each semester s reserve readings.
Oversees maintenance of Library stacks, keeping stacks and stack signage in
order.
Works with CCAC Operations Department and Security to maintain Library security
and public areas.
Manages Library collections inventory.
Maintains photocopier. Requests service copier supplies as needed. Collects
revenue from photocopier and forwards to Accounting Office.
Works with Educational Technology to maintain public access computers.
Responsible for some evening and weekend staffing during the semester.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
B.A. or academic Library certification program completion. Academic library
automated circulation experience equaling at least one year, preferably with
Innopac. Class reserve management experience. Strong training and supervisory
experience, especially of student or other part time staff. Familiar with both
Mac and PC platforms. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
Ability to adapt to a fast changing organization. Able to lift 10 pounds;
stand, bend and reach heavy books on shelves. Able to work well with students
and faculty, with little supervision, and to handle a variety of demands.
Accurate, independent, flexible, and disciplined. OCLC searching experience,
visual arts study or practice desirable.
