Dear ARLIS/NA members,
I could not agree more with Tom Riedel. I found this whole exchange
confusing. Initially, I thought the reason the person put the recall
message up was that they had not meant it to go out onto ARLIS-L but
wanted to send it to some other list they had (probably for the GLIRT
members specifically) and it was accidentally sent. I am assuming Alec
who posted the comment about sexist material did not realize that GLIRT
was an organization within ARLIS/NA, and like all the other committees
and other smaller ARLIS groups (e.g.: ARLIS Northeast, and ARLIS West
etc.) it has the right to publish notices concerning its activities on
ARLIS-L.
I hope this has all been a misunderstanding and that we can foster
harmony within ARLIS/NA and not animosity.
Thank you,
Meg Cunningham (diversity committee chair elect)
