I am an MLS student at SUNY-Albany doing research on image databases. I'd
be interested in hearing about your experiences with image databases - both
free and fee-based.
If your organization has it's own proprietary image database, please
describe how it is used (public/private access, research, collections
management, preservation, security control, etc.), and how it is searched
(fields).
Many thanks for your input.

The Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College has a database of their two major
collections, which selectively has images:
http://www.dartmouth.edu/~library/infosys/dciswww/prod/Art.html
One of the popup menus is "HAS IMAGE" and by choosing "Y" you can see them all.
It is not a library database--the Info Systems Dept has provided an interface
to it, connecting with the Hood's collection mgt. software. Sorry I can't
explain too much more about it, but just wanted to let you know about it. Try
the "HELP" features if you want to explore the databse.
