Dear Colleagues: The Providence Public Library has a request for a self
portrait of the late nineteenth century English neoclassical painter,
John William Godward (1861-1922). I have looked at many web sites, all
of the possible resources I could locate at our Library, and Art Index.
I did find mention of a book supposedly published in March 98 by the
Antique Collectors Club: John William Godward: the eclipse of classicism
by Vern Swanson. But no trace of it in Rhode Island.
        You rarely fail me, so if anyone has a suggestion or an image, I'd be
most grateful. Our patron says a photocopy is OK - in which case, I can
