Reading room panels have been blank for generations ever since it had
been said that James Abbott McNeil Whistler could not contract with
our city of Boston Public Library department board for his work on the
end panel still left blank, a wash for which can be reviewed in
sources available at BPL fine arts department, 3rd floor.
What would people expert about mounting and running artist
competitions for a potential artwork call a kind of competition where
there would not necessarily be a winner chosen depending on what
entries are submitted?
Why are too staid institutions like our city of Boston Public Library
department unable or unwilling to accept contemporary great art works
even as temporary installation for blank panels in our public library
reading room?
Maybe BPL fine arts department
http://www.bpl.org/WWW/finearts.html
or someone could put up an image of
Whistler's wash for Bates Hall on the net.
