KNOWLEDGE EXECUTIVE INSTITUTE
June 5-7, 1997
Seattle, Washington
Developed by the Special Libraries Association, this pilot Institute
will provide members who are leaders in their organizations with a
unique learning opportunity in which to grow specific executive
competencies needed for knowledge executive roles within their
organizations.
The ideal candidate for the Institute should manage an organization
of 10+ employees; manage a large budget (1+ million); and/or exercise
high-level organization-wide decision making authority for
information management and policies.
An impressive roster of faculty will work with participants in a
highly intensive, interactive 2.5 day course. Attendance will be
limited to ensure that all participants will gain and apply insights
for leadership development in their own organizations. Pre-work,
including reading and completion of a leadership assessment
instrument to participants, their peers and senior management, will
be required.
OUR FACULTY INCLUDES:
JIM CLEMMER, founder and president of the Clemmer Group, an expert in
leadership and personal effectiveness and author of Pathways to
Performance: A Guide to Transforming Yourself, Your Team, and Your
Organization and Firing on All Cylinders: The Service Quality System
for High-Powered Performance.
TOM DAVENPORT, PH.D., director of the information management program
at the University of Texas, Austin, academic and industry leader in
information technology and knowledge management, and author of
Process Innovation: Reengineering Work through Information
Technology.
CAROL GINSBURG, Vice President, Bankers Trust Co., and Lois Remeikis,
Director of Knowledge & Information Management, Booz, Allen &
Hamilton, Inc., information profession leaders who will provide
practical insights into managing knowledge programs and communicating
and negotiating at high levels within their organizations.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
I. Enable attendees to set personal and organizational leadership
goals.
(i) Offer a supportive and empowering environment to share goals,
objectives and leadership challenges with peers.
(ii) Gain insights from experts in fields related to organizational
psychology and leadership.
(iii) Enable attendees to produce personal blueprints for action
within their organizations.
II. Provide techniques and training for executive-level
communication, focusing on negotiating and influencing skills
required to effectively champion and manage corporate-wide
initiatives.
III. Provide an overview of the broader issues in information and
knowledge management to prepare attendees to envision, plan and
implement programs to manage their organization's information and
knowledge assets.
