I can confirm that I remember Alison as saying that H.W. Wilson is seriously
considering the retrospective version and is now assessing the market for it.
The open issues were the subject headings and whether to do the first two
volumes. I think the readers of ARLIS-L should know how open to suggestions
and advice Alison and H.W. Wilson are. I came away from our tour very
impressed with what they are doing and planning.

Subject: Retrospective indexing of Art Index
----------------------------Original message----------------------------
Dear Colleagues,
There have been many interesting comments today about the retrospective
indexing of Art Index. As someone who was on the Art Index tour, I
am quite sure I understood Alison Dickey to say that the retrospective
indexing from the early years to 1984 was coming, and not just
something they'd like to do someday. I believe Liz O'Keefe's minutes of
the mtg alludes to this. In fact, at one point, Ms Dickey asked the group
whether we would prefer that they retain the old subject headings or use
more current ones. This indicates, at least to me, that they've actually
started looking at the work that will be involved.
Can anyone on the tour confirm my recollection?
