RE: Grant funding for art libraries: I would respectfully suggest that asking
around in this way is not an effective means for researching funding sources;
you might find a few nuggets, but you won't get a very full picture of the
possibilities. If you're not, as I would surmise, familiar with your local
branch of the Foundation Center, it's essential, in my opinion, to seek it out
and to become familiar with its resources. They have the facilities for doing
systematic research on the granting patterns of thousands of American
foundations; models for proposal writing and communicating with foundation
officers; annual reports of all important local foundations; and much more.
Most centers are also great places to make contacts with other local
grant-seekers who may have valuable experience with foundations in your area.
